Jeffery T. Teeter '85
Outstanding Athletic Achievement
Jeff Teeter was a three-sport athlete at MASH, participating in soccer, basketball and baseball. He earned a High Honor Athletic Award. His baseball accomplishments at MASH include the following: Season Records: 5th in Stolen Bases with 14 set in 1985, 2nd in Runs Scored with 34 set in 1985, 2nd in At-Bats with 86 set in 1984, and 30+ Hits in a season (34 in 1985 and 31 in 1984); Career Records: 5th in Stolen Bases with 24 set in 1984 & 1985, 5th in Runs Scored with 59, 8th in Hits with 65 and 3rd in Slugging % with .670. Jeff was a 2nd Team Outfield All-star in 1984 and was a 1st Team Outfield All-star and member of the Patriot-News Big 11 Team in 1985.
He continued his athletic endeavors at Shippensburg University where he played baseball. His baseball accomplishments at Shippensburg University include the being named a First Team All-American Outfielder and Most Valuable Player in the PSAC Eastern Division in 1988. His team won the PSAC Championship in 1986, 1987 and 1989, and were runner-up in 1988. During his four years the team had a record of 130-56-1 for a winning percentage of .698. Jeff had the following batting average: .349 as a freshman, .368 as a sophomore, .441 as a junior and .358 as a senior (injured most of the season). His career batting average of .385 is still the team record. He had 219 hits in 569 at-bats in 166 games and holds the career records for runs scored (181), triples (16) and stolen bases (97). He is the co-record holder for walks with 117 and had only one error in his career as an outfielder finishing with a .996 career fielding percentage. He graduated in 1989 with a Criminal Justice Degree. In October of 2002, Jeff was inducted into the Shippensburg University Athletic Hall of Fame.
Jeff has been employed as the Safety Director for Bruce Barclay Electrical Contractor since graduating from college. He is very active in the Mechanicsburg community, serving as a member of the Mechanicsburg Recreation Commission, coaching the Mechanicsburg 6th Grade Boys Basketball Travel Team during the winter and coaching a teener baseball team in the spring. He continues to provide hitting instruction to members of the MASH Baseball Team and numerous little league, teener, legion and college players. He played Twilight Baseball from the time he was in high school and finished a 20-year career with the Mechanicsburg Cardinals in 2004.
Jeff lives in Mechanicsburg with his wife, Andrea Turo Teeter.
